CRANE - RAIL ALIGNMENT

cimage_259.jpgThe Port of Auckland operates five large shipping container cranes. Until now alignment monitoring of the main bogie rails has not been able to be carried out in an efficient manor.

NOVAMECH was asked to attempt to obtain positional data of the rails for the length of the crane boom.

By positioning our Leica HDS 3000 scanner at both ends of the boom we were able to see the rails (have line of sight on these). Thereby be able to scan the inner edge cimage_263.jpgof the rail.

From this data we produced drawings of each crane with tabulated positional data for The Port of Auckland to then use if any adjustments or maintenance was required. Thereby, keeping the rail alignment with manufactures specifications.

NOVAMECH successfully carried this out on all 5 cranes over a 4 month period. The major challenge was the changeable weather that Auckland experiences.
