3D Laser scanning is one of the most effective was to document and analyse artefacts and historical sites. Leica scanners have been used numerously around the world to provide accurate 3D models to scientists, archaeologists and engineers. With the help of such scans real objects can later be restored or entirely reconstructed using 3D printing devises.

Unlike traditional methods where plaster casting was used to obtain a mould, 3D laser scanners do not require contact to object to extract its form, this is particularly useful on precious and fragile artefacts which may not withstand plaster casting techniques. Size of the object is also not limited as 3D Leica scanners can provide accurate data across its operational range of 300m.
