Rapak - Laminator Plant Guarding

Rapak Asia Pacific Ltd of Penrose commissioned Novamech to design and install machine guarding on a laminating machine.  The machine is used to apply a foil backing to a polythene sheeting used in the manufacture of plastic food containers.  After taking a full set of site measurements, we modelled the relevant parts of the machine in solidworks then designed guarding to suit.  The guarding had to be effective but not hinder machine operation.  The movable guards used counterbalance weights for ease of operation.  Novamech were also asked to manufacture and install the guarding which we did in due course.

As part of the same project, Novamech designed and installed bin tipper units for 200 litre barrels of adhesive used in the lamination process.  These were designed to fit into a very tight enclosure, so accurate site measurements were essential.  We also designed a smaller manually operated tipping unit for catalyst bins.  The plant is now operating successfully.
